At University I played Bobby Gould in Speed the Plow to standing ovations every night, I played Duke Albany in King Leer, I was Norman Bulanski in The Boys Next Door. I was the Brute in Chekov’s The Brute, Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream and here I am 6 years later in this picture drunk as shit on free beer playing a can of PBR who is mad that an EGG SANDWICH fucked his wife.

A fellow Chicago Comic came in town this past week and weened, Dan Telfer, for the LA Comedy Festival. IT was really cool getting to hang out with him again as he is the one who pushed me into doing stand up for the first time.

I got to do 2 shows at 12 Shiny Nickles on Friday and then was invited back Saturday. It was a really fun show because I got to see a ton of Chicago Alum. Adam Witt, Brady Novak, Mike B, Ken Barnard, it was really kick ass. As a Chicago Stand Up I feel like we all really bring a ton of energy and commitment to the stage. It was a great show to be a part of. That show led to getting booked at 3 of Hearts Comedy which was also a cool room to do. And I got booked for my birthday! Friday Nov 21st at 9pm, I’ll be doing 12 Shiny Nickles again! Word up! I get pretty excited about getting alot of these shows under my belt.

In illustration news, I am learning how to paint with Photoshop and its getting ALOT better than it was previously. Remember that Troll I drew? Check this bad ass out in color witha background, all done by me, Andrew Loves Fantasy DeWitt.

So far, The Onion has the only truly funny thing to say about the election.

The headline reads, “Nation Finally Shitty Enough to Make Social Progress” and it’s true. Did it really take two un-winnable wars, a housing market crash, health care crisis, fuel crisis, job crisis, stock market crisis, and rampant corruption to vote for the smartest, most inspiring, visionary candidate? Is our distrust of all things brown to black really that strong? Well, yes it is. America is really really racist. Check out the reader posts at Foxnews.com. One of many examples:

Are you kidding me? An army of Black Panthers keeping white people from voting?!?! Where is this guy from? The comments on the forums are stunningly ignorant and shamefully bigoted. Definitley check them out.

But there is some good news. Those people are dying everyday. The people who hate gays, Jews, Muslims, blacks, smart women, Mexicans, liberals, minorities of all colors, educated young people, they are all dying of old age.

What we saw last night was the death rattle of mainstream intolerance. There were states that remained true Red, my home state of South Carolina, for instance. And it is likely that these states will hold hard to their bigotry to the final breath of community sanctioned hatred exhales its last. But soon now, and this election gives me faith, soon now, Americans will once again value intelligence as something to aspire to not something that makes you an unpatriotic simpering coward. We will value honesty and not the semblance of honesty. And I really hope that we will work together, to turn the richest nation in the world into the WEALTHIEST. There is a true difference there between rich and wealthy and it has everything to do with how the people with the most, health, wealth, intellect, skills, treat the people with the least.

Anyway, the group broke up, but we all stay in contact. We did some really cool video sketches with my long time friend, Karl Rutherford as the director.

This video is called “Bro Down: The Game For Bros”. It came from an idea that my fiancee and I had that started out as imagining some meat heads glued to a shitty sofa watching a show that’s just called “Sports” and all that happens on sports is a cartoon football bounces across the screen and numbers on the side of the screen go up and down. And they watch it for hours. And they don’t move and they try as hard as possible to not act excited.

Then we started talking about how funny it would be if there was a board game that these guys could play. So we made up this board game that’s basically like monopoly meets sorry with all this frat guy bullshit on it. Then we invited over some improv friends of ours, got a bunch of beer, dressed my fiancee up as a dude and played Bro Down!
